Act 5 Scene 1-
Falstaff proves his stupidity once again by thinking that the third time is a charm. Ford shows up disguised as Brook, and Falstaff tells him to go into the forest at midnight. He starts talking all kinds of crap about Ford, telling him all about how he was mistreated when he was disguised as the old woman of Brainford. He promises vengeance on Ford, and promises that Brook will have Ford’s wife.
Act 5 Scene 2-
Page, Shallow and Slender are all hanging out just outside of the Windsor forest getting their plans together. Shallow tells Slender that Anne will be in white.
Act 5 Scene 3-
Mrs. Page tells Caius that he’ll recognize Anne because she will be dressed in green and that he should grab her and slip away as soon as the opportunity is presented. She tells him that she knows her husband is blowing a fuse but it’s worth his wrath to spare Anne the heartbreak of having to marry Slender.
Mr. Page and Mrs. Ford are giddy with excitement at the chance to humiliate Falstaff one more time as they leave for Windsor Park.
Act 5 Scene 4-
Evans gets the children, who are disguise as fairies, ready and tells them to remember what they are supposed to do.
Act 5 Scene 5-
Everybody enters the forest and Falstaff has on a buck’s head, just as he had been told to do. Falstaff gives Mrs. Ford a big squeeze and then gets all excited to see that Mrs. Page is there as well. All of a sudden they hear horns so the women run away.
Evans enters disguised as a satyr, with Anne and the children in tow. Pistol is dressed as a hobgoblin and Mistress Quickly is dressed like the Queen of Fairies (and none of this is a big red flag to Falstaff? Fool deserves what he gets!) Quickly and Pistol start channeling Dr. Suess and talk in rhymes, which totall convinces Falstaff that they are fairies. Falstaff freaks out a little and is afraid that if he speaks to the fairies he will die, so he lays down and closes his eyes.
After quoting some more Dr. Suess, Evans and Quickly tell the little children fairies to dance around the tree next to where Falstaff is lying down. When Evan’s spots him he directs the fairies to put their tapers to Falstaff’s fingers. Falstaff gets really scared as the fairies dance around him, pinching him, and calling him names in rhyme. While this is happening, Caius sees his opportunity to sneak away with the character in green, whom he believes is Anne, but is really a boy. Slender does the same thing with a boy dressed in white. They both think they have Anne Page. Fenton, in the meantime sneaks away with the real Anne. They all hear the sounds of hunters and the fairies run away.
The Pages and Fords reveal themselves to Falstaff and start making fun of him. He realizes that once again he has been punked. He gives in and takes the insults.
Page invites Falstaff to come to his house to dinner where he thinks they’ll have the chance to get even by making fun of Mrs. Page, because he thinks Anne has married Slender. Mrs. Page totally thinks that Anne has married Caius.
Slenders comes in with his panties all in a bunch because he figured out he just ran away with a boy instead of Anne. Page gets all bent out of shape and reads him the riot act for screwing up the plan, but Slender says he did everything he was supposed to do. Mrs. Page jumps in and says it isn’t Slender’s fault, that she had Anne dress in green and that Anne has married Caius instead.
Right on cue Caius runs in freaking out because he just eloped with a boy as well.
Fenton and Anne show up and announce that they got married. Fenton starts ragging on Anne’s parents for trying to make her marry for their own selfish reasons. He tells them that they better not give her crap for marrying him because they married for love. The Pages forgive them. They all go to the Page’s to laugh and reminisce about the whole situation. Even Falstaff is invited.
