Book and Movie Reviews: The Stephanie Plum Books
June 21, 2010 by Lori Mitchell
Instead of reviewing just one book, I’m going to tell you about a series of books that I enjoy. The Plum books. This is a series of books in the chick lit genre. Stephanie Plum is sort of a bumbling bounty hunter. She is hysterically funny as she and her posse of interesting friends and family try to apprehend the bad guys. I will say that Steph always gets her man, or woman, or monkey, or whatever it is she may be after.
The stories are funny, the characters amazing, and the dialogue snappy and fun. Janet Evanovich has 15 of the “numbers” out as well as several “betweens”. The book titles are all numbered. The first one is “One For the Money” and the reason I’m writing this review now is because “Sizzling Sixteen” will be out June 22. The “tweens” are based around holidays.
I’m going to introduce you to the cast of characters so that you can pick up any of the books without having to go in order.
Stephanie- the main character. She’s full of spunk is the sort of woman you can imagine being friends with. She definitely reminds me of some of my friends, except for the blowing up cars thing.
Grandma Mazur- Stephanie’s grandma is a real corker. I want to be Grandma Mazur when I grow up.
Lula- cialis pill cutter Stephanie’s self-proclaimed side kick. Lula was a victim in the first book and ended up as a filing clerk for the bail bond s office, but more often than not she rides along with Stephanie. She is a size 16 black woman, wearing size 6 clothes, and never has the same hair color two books in a row.
Joe Morelli- I am in love with Joe Morelli. He is Stephanie’s on again, off again fiancé. He is also a police officer and Stephanie’s life style drives him crazy!
Ranger- Ranger is the personification of dark, sexy, mystery. He is Stephanie’s mentor, who is the other man in Stephanie’s life. This bad boy is a loner whose life is as mysterious and sexy as the man himself.
Throw in Stephanie’s antibiotics online mother, father, cousin/boss, and nemesis, and Bob the wonder dog, and you will laugh out loud at this cast. I highly recommend these books for a fun light read. I have a hard time waiting for an entire year for each new book to come out!
